I have a very true friend who has known me since I was an awkward Freshman in a new school, Gladstone High School. My family had just moved to Azusa, CA and we didn't have a dime to spare. Her mother was the Young Women's President in our ward. She was a grade ahead of me and even tho I was very badly dressed she befriended me and has been a life long friend. She never tried to change my appearance nor me, she was just an awesome friend who loved hanging out with me !!! I even walked in on her in the girls bathroom in the ward building with another friend defending my attire and me !! The girls from the other ward were well to do (as they used to say) and were asking my 2 friends why they hung out with me? LOL Those girls were embarassed when I came around the corner !!!
We spent many hours in each other homes and she was my ride to seminary everyday for years. Her father even hired me to wash the trucks of his pool cleaning business, which gave me money to buy my own clothes. We had some awesome times together, water balloon fights in summer and toiletpapering on Fridays with the rest of the YW's girls !! (Keep that a secret) and she loved my mother's scones (the danish fried kind).
Over the years she has been a true friend !! She has always been way better at keeping in touch, before computers she wrote me religiously every month. I must confess I wasn't as good at writing back. I still have those letters too !! With the advent of the computer and email we have been in touch way more often, and even tho I have only seen her a handful of times since I was a teenager I know she is a true friend. I recently sent her my blog address and I discovered she is now a follower on my blog !!! I want her to know how much her friendship has meant to me !! The kindness she showed me back then was so needed and did not go unnoticed !! Thanks Janet I really love you and cherish your friendship !! Love Robin

Wow...everyone needs a true friend like that. That is such a great story! I told you that you need to write these all down...way to go!!! Have I met Janet? Probably not...she sounds like a kindred spirit!!!

No you haven't met her, she hasn't been here. She was living in Arkansas and then Montana but is now back in CA. So really I need to go see her while she is here cuz they move around with there businesses. Hill and I went and spent 10 days with them in 1998 in AR. She and her husband lived close to Branson MO then and were friends with Tony Orlando. We had a great time with them. They have 5awesome children, all grown now of course !! And you both are that kind of friend already !!
What a priceless treasure a friend is. It is wonderful that you have stayed close all these years...
How nice is it to keep in touch with a great friend! I have a friend from when we lived in the Bay Area. She lives in New Mexico now, but we each have blogs that we like to follow. Hopefully 20 years from now we can still be friends like you are.

Dear Robin...
I just read your blog and was so surprised to read about ME and our special friendship that we have shared for SOOOOO many years !!!
You are so sweet to remember and mention all of those special memories of our childhood...!
You have, and always will be, a VERY special friend and I will always cherish the memories I have, of the times that we have spent together.
It's so hard to keep in touch with all of our dear friends, since our lives are all so hectic, but I am so thankful for the computer, and the fact that it is so much easier to write, and send pics, etc... in order to stay in touch, even though we live far apart...!
And it's SO hard to believe that it has been SO MANY YEARS since we used to have those water balloon fights and see each other every day !!!
And my family and I have moved around a lot, but we still make sure that we don't lose track of each other.
I don't know why... but it's so hard to believe that Hillary is all grown up now... I guess we just think OUR kids are the only ones who grew up so fast !!!! My 5 kids are all grown now too, and we have 9 grandkids...(so far...! Our youngest, Micah is not married yet, so I'm sure we'll have a couple from him someday...! BRING 'EM ON !!! woo hoo !)
You and your family have always been a special memory to me... and OH YES... I DO REMEMBER THE SCONES...!!! Yum....!
So, Robin... don't ever forget how special you are to me... and I am truly blessed to have a lifelong friend, who I have so much respect for, who loves me as much as I love her...
