Our world upside down

After my surgery for cancer last month, my wound got infected. So I had to be hospitalized and was very ill for a while. They had to open my wound up so it can heal from the inside out. Hillary is my nurse and she packs my wound twice a day. I was very upset and pretty out of it for a while. But last week I got good news that my cancer is GONE!!! I don't have to have chemo or radiation !! The oncologist told me it was a good thing too because when you have to have radiation over an open wound it takes years to heal... so on that note I have decided I am truly blessed and I am trying not to whine about having an open wound which will takes months to heal as opposed to years !! I've been there done that in 1997!! If you are wondering about the picture it is Hill letting the air out of the blow-up mattress she slept on for the last month to be near me at night !! I am well enough now she can sleep in her room on her bed !!! She is so patient with me and the doctors talk to her like a colleague !! I am so blessed she is home to take care of me and the most special part is she does so willingly and with such gentleness and love, she is my greatest gift!!!! Thank you Father in Heaven for Hill and being cancer free, and for all of my family and friends who have visited me making the long days seem bare able !!

A few updates

This is Hillary making a Norwegian wedding cake with DeAnn.

And this is the finished cake, isn't it beautiful !!

I know how Dorothy felt!!!

I haven't been on a computer in a while, at least not where I felt like I could spend time blogging on it ... so today I am at my brother and sister -in- law's using theirs. I have some catching up to do so hold on to your hat, because you'll feel like you are in the house with Dorothy, Hill and I spinning somewhere over Kansas...

Well as you know I recently went to Arizona to pick up Hillary as her mission to Mesa came to an end. It was a short but wonderful trip.

We had lunch with all of the Spanish speaking sisters in Hillary's zone. And during our lunch a group of women stopped to say that even without the name tags they knew they were missionary sisters from across the room because of the glow !! And it is true you could see it !! lol We found out that they were eating lunch out to celebrate the sister who originally stopped to talk to us' birthday !! So I suggested the sisters sing happy birthday to her in Spanish, which they did!! The Sister whose name was Karen actually cried and said ti was the best birthday she had ever had !!

We visited many of her dear friends that day and then attended her last baptism. It was for an 8 year old girl who waited until Hill's mission was over so she could be there too. Hill spoke on the Holy Ghost and even though it was in Spanish I felt I understood what was being said !! It was one of the most special experiences of my life!!!!

That evening we spent some very fun time with our family (by adoption) in Buckeye AZ. Man it was good to see them all well and happy !! And of course ever ready to do us another favor by bringing Hermana Scott's bike home from AZ !! When we left there home it was late but we were determined to drive until we couldn't anymore... we drove a whole hour !! lol

Then Hill's BFF Christie Bessinger and her parents held a welcome home party for Hill in their back yard and our dearest friends and family all came !! It was wonderful !! Here are some of the pictures from that night!! We almost forgot to take pictures so some people may not be in the pictures, sorry if we missed you !!

And now for the rest of the story...

The first week Hillary was home my Dear Aunt Evelyn passed away suddenly. She had a bleeding stroke in her doctor's office. It happened on Wednesday and she passed away on Friday around noon. We were in a state of extreme shock, and then my mother became very ill and was admitted to the hospital, thru the ER, and it was determined she was on too much medicine and all her electrolytes were missing. She is home now trying to regain her strength. So Hill did not give her homecoming talk as scheduled due to the turmoil and being at the hospital all night and no sleep !!!
(BTW she will be speaking this Sunday in the YSA ward of our stake!!) My mom's youngest sister became ill on the ride home from CA after the funeral and ended up in the hospital the moment she got home!! She is fine now and glad to be out of the hospital too !!

And if your head is not spinning enough the third week was taken up with my health issues and surgery to determine what was happening to me... well, with the better pathology they found I have Uterine cancer... So we have had quite a ride in this house spinning over Kansas!! :) I have much to tell about my newest journey, but I believe it will take it's own blog, so if you're interested, be looking for my cancer blog that I'm going to keep to document my newest adventure !! :)

A picture for each week !!!

A picture for each week I have left !! Yes just 3 weeks left !! Yipppeeeeeeee

Also a bit of Hermana Scott's email from today !! I guess we'll be giving up Mexican food !!! hehehehe She is talking about the letter she wrote me today prior to emailing me... yes I get both every week !! Love my Hermana and she asks us to pray for them !!

In the letter you'll hear about how awful the food poisoning all 6 of us missionaries got on Saturday from our dinner. No worries because we're all fine now. But let me just say I am looking forward to a meatless, only fish and tofu filled life after the mission! haha I never want to see any form of dark meat again! I am DONE. lol And I am looking forward to small portions that I can choose myself! haha I will only miss a specific Salsa from Ranch Market and homemade tortillas. Maybe we will stop by Ranch Market on the way out of town :o) I do love me some Salsa :o) I can't wait to make flan for you! But after that we are going on South Beach and not getting off of it. My stomach can't handle anything else. Heck maybe I'll even become gluten-free like Christie the way I feel! haha

I also wrote you about how cute Irvin Coronel is. He is like the most spiritual 10 year old I have ever met! He's so adorable! He's totally going to be a general Authority someday. I have loved teaching his family. It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. We have another baptism on the 25th of a girl named Michelle. Pray for her! And also pray for sister Alvarez and I to find a prepared family to teach. I know they're out there waiting we just need to find them.

I love you Mom! Read your scriptures!

Love,
Hna. Scott

A Temple blessing !!

Last week on my way home from the temple on Bullard, I picked up something in my tire. I knew right away because I had my windows down and it made a flapping sound. I pulled over and was in shock when I saw the piece of metal that was wedged in my tire, it was about 7 inches long and 4 inches tall. I knew the tire was a goner... I was able to make it from Bullard and Blackstone to Clovis. I was babysitting for the Budges, that night. When I arrived the tire was still intact and had not lost any air??? Ryan changed my tire right away. The next morning I went to the tire store and he sold me a new tire and prorated the amount even though I had not purchased the road hazard insurance, but because my tire was so new (6 monthish) he gave it to me!! I did buy the road hazard insurance on Saturday. And so my bill came to $55.00 for a new tire for Kiwi, installation and road hazard insurance !! Wow I was in shock !! I know the Lord was watching over me because that tire held together though the razor sharp metal was all the way in my tire, it did not cut the radial cords, the tire remained intact!! I am still in shock, I will never buy any tire but a Firestone from now on !!! Thank you Father it could have been so bad !!

What would it be like???

Shortly after I married, life was not as I pictured it would be as a young girl. I truly didn't like being around my husband and most of my family didn't either, because of how he treated me... but I committed to marriage and hoped it would get better.

My parents had a similar marriage, my dad being the one that made life unpleasant. I truly thought I was smart and had married someone different than my father. But alas it was only a week before I knew I had made a mistake.

Now I don't mention this to make anyone feel sorry for me, that's not who I am... I made the most of it and will never ever regret my marriage for one reason alone, Hillary !!

So to the reason of this post... I am grateful for all of those in my life who have set a good example for me and helped me to know marriage is truly of God!! I teasingly say to them, "Hmm what would it be like to want your husband around?" I do not know and never did. So thank you to my friends who have shared a glimpse of how it can be!!

From Julie who can't wait to get in the truck and travel any where Jeff goes, to David rising every time Susan enters a room, to Bobbie and Rick Salway always putting the other persons wishes first, to my little brother who works around the house as much as my sister in law though he works long hours and he never leaves a mess anywhere in the house, to Steve making everyone wait to eat cake until Linda has her piece of cake, and Allyson calling Dave her forever boyfriend, and the list goes on. So know that someone is always watching what you do, not what you say.

Thank you to all of you for the hope you have given me that a relationship can be sweet and uplifting and fun and worth having. Maybe not until the next life for me, but regardless I would settle for nothing less than the examples I have enjoyed !!

To day is number 34!!

I am so happy to have heard from Hill today, a day late. She says on this last transfer of her mission she and her companion are basically homeless !! They will live from home to home for the next 5 weeks !! But she says it's been a hoot !! Yeah Hill for the great attitude !! I am glad you choose to see the bright side and not be part of a pity party !! GO Hermana !!

She is also glad to be back on a bike cuz now she feels like a real missionary !! lol

She said they have had so many miracles happening in this her last transfer !! They taught a whole family who were baptized this last week and more scheduled baptisms coming up in the next month !! She is loving being a missionary !!

For those who want to know she will be speaking in Clovis 2nd ward on 07/10/2011!!

Let us recycle together.

This is my favorite reuse item. Can you guess what this is made out of?

This is a coaster made from paper. I love the look of it!!

This bowl is made out of rags. My mom made rugs like this when I was growing up.

Let's give it a try !! :)

I love this little flower arrangement from old cans.
Nothing new but cute all the same.

This frame and box are out of old magazine pages.

I love this throw made out of old sweaters. You can always pick up sweaters at yard sales cheap.

These were made from an ice tea can.

Jenna is #1 !!!

Last Friday my niece Jenna won first place in the mile run!!! She attends Reagan Elementary and they were competing against Fancher and Freedom Elementary schools. So she qualified for the Reagan Area championship meet !!! She also ran the high jump that day !! She is a very athletic girl who plays basketball and is a cheerleader !! But to her Auntie, me, who is very un-atheltic she amazes me !! And the icing on the cake is she makes honor roll every quarter and this time had straight A's !! I know I am a bit prejudiced but I think she is awe inspiring !! She is sweet to boot!!

My chat with Hill

Hermana Scott with one of her admirers, she calls him "Ironman Max" !!

Yesterday was Mothers Day, and as all members of the church know, that is one of the two days a year missionaries get to "phone home" !! It was a much anticipated day. And it just happened to work out wonderfully, my sister and her family came to visit our mom just as it was time to call her. Also Jennifer and Jayden came to talk to her too. It was a very festive atmosphere and everyone got an opportunity to speak to Hill before we settled in for our long chat.

It went something like this, Grandma got first dibs on the cell and got all teary eyed, she is truly missing Hill. Then Jennifer and Jayden got to talk to her, and Jayden was very plain in his, "Aunt Hillree" and "I love you"'s !! Aunt Jamie was so excited to hear her voice for the first time since 1/20/2010 and they were both very emotional. Then Jenna talked to her, and I do believe she was just as excited as I was. The cute part about Jenna talking to her is her older brothers said just tell her "hi", but Jenna took the phone to them and made them talk to her, and secretly they were just as excited to speak to her as we were. Then was my turn and we were able to settle a lot of items in regards to her return in 50 days form Sunday !! I have to tell you it was like she had never been gone, the only difference was the Spanish she kept speaking !! At one point she said mom can you guess what I can't wait to do when I get home? And I said shoe shopping? lol And she said to hold a baby again, because while serving they are not allowed to hold babies or children. So as soon as we get home we will be heading for the nearest baby !! lol

You and Me, and I know what a gift you are !!

I had to post how truly blessed I am to have a daughter who considers me her eternal best friend. I have always felt that about Hill from birth, but it is so wonderful for her to write me in a letter and tell me she feels the same way !! That is why it has been the hardest 16 months I have ever endured !! But I am grateful she has had this time to serve the Lord and to progress almost daily !!

And this is my Easter card from her I thought I'd share it with you all !! The paper says, Happy Easter.

The day the Rock almost won

These pictures posted out of order but it will have to do ... This is the view from the top of the rock climb...

This the climb up and she is still smiling... though she looks a little stressed even here !!

This was 3 am in the morning the beginning of the climb !! This is what happens when Elders are in charge of "P" day !! They planned a little hike !! Yeah right 4 miles straight up rock !! No trails just ROCK, are you nuts !! lol I can smile now because she is alright and the Lord did indeed watch over her, but the "Mommie" version even admits she almost died that day !! She froze at the top and at one point had a 6 foot drop and the Elder below caught her and so I wish to state NO MORE ROCK climbing !!

Is this what Easter Means to you?

When I was a young girl we did not attend church, except once a year. It was always on Easter that my mother and father would dress us all up, often in matching clothes. It meant getting together with family, food, and most importantly then, candy Easter eggs. And of course the great egg hunt !!

As I have contemplated this I wondered about why my parents, who did not live the gospel, would take us to church on this day. And I believe that even when they had stepped away from what they were taught as children, their very real testimony of the Savior's resurrection would not let them stay away on the day we celebrated His overcoming the grave !! He is Risen was written on the fleshy tables of their hearts, even if they had hardened their hearts to it the rest of the year!! I am glad, for those are some of my greatest childhood memories !! Some of the only happy memories I have. So I say thank you Mom and Dad for making Easter special to me !!
