It's Spring, does that mean clean??

Clean Your Bathrooms

You may scrub your bathroom every week, but now it's time to battle clutter and refresh old products. Go through your medicine cabinets and safely discard any outdated products. Replace worn bath mats, shower curtains, and liners, or wash and dry shower curtains and liners.

Clean Out Your Refrigerator
Our Recommended Method:

To perform your monthly refrigerator cleaning, start by wiping the interior of your refrigerator. Sanitize your refrigerator drip pan, and wipe compartments with a solution of 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 quart warm water. Wash the shelves in your sink with warm water and a mild soap or detergent. Rinse and dry shelves before replacing. Then, wash the door seals with water and a mild detergent.

Wash Kitchen Trash Area

Wash out kitchen trash container and surrounding area with a multipurpose disinfecting cleaner. Time Saver: Stash three or four trash bags at the bottom of the container before putting in a fresh bag to make it convenient to replace a bag when the trash is taken out.

Wash Windows
Our Recommended Method:

Use lint-free cloths, strong paper towels, or chamois cloth to clean small windows or windows with small panels. If your windows are only slightly dirty, use only clear water. For dirty windows, use a commercial glass spray. Natural Solution:
If you prefer to use a homemade solution, mix 2 cups water with 2 cups rubbing alcohol and 1/2 cup ammonia. Then, put the mixture in a spray bottle. Start at the top and work first across and then down. Rub away streaks with crumpled newspapers.

Shake or Vacuum Area Rugs

Keep your large area rugs in tip-top shape by caring for them as you would wall-to-wall carpet. For small rugs that are difficult to vacuum, take them outside and shake them vigorously, or hang them over a clothesline and beat with a broom to remove dust and dirt. Consult care labels for small rugs to determine whether they should be dry cleaned, spot cleaned, or laundered.

Start with the Kitchen

It's easy to stay on top of cleaning when you create a routine that works for your lifestyle. Complete these simple cleaning tasks once a week to ensure a tidy home and avoid marathon cleaning sessions. In the kitchen, it pays to get the hardest jobs out of the way first. To keep your kitchen sparkling clean, stay up-to-date with these weekly tasks. Mop the floor. Clean the exteriors of appliances. Wipe the counters and cabinet doors. Scour and polish the sink.

In the Kitchen

Keep your kitchen in order by creating a place for everything. Store cookware and utensils near the range or cooktop so they are within reach when cooking. Keep a spray bottle with a solution of one part bleach to four parts water or an all-purpose spray cleaner in the kitchen for cleaning after meals.

Dust Miniblinds & Vacuum Curtains
Our Recommended Method:

Vacuum curtains with a handheld vacuum and a soft brush attachment set on low suction. To quick-clean blinds, put on a pair of rubber gloves and then top those with cotton gloves. Mix 1 teaspoon of ammonia to 1 quart of water. Then, dip your hands into the solution. Run your fingers along the top and your thumb underneath each slot.

Laundry Room

Keep all laundry supplies together in a basket. This will save time when doing loads of laundry and will keep the laundry area tidy.

Use a Basket

Train all family members to put dirty clothing in hampers. Place a basket or hamper in each bedroom closet, and in each bath if space allows. Place three additional hampers in the laundry area -- for dark clothes, light clothes, and special-care items. In households with teens, delegate a laundry responsibility to each family member. Assign simple laundry chores, such as folding socks, to younger children.

Mop Hard-Surface Floors

Mopping is one of the most inexpensive and effective ways to keep your home clean.
Wet mops are used for scrubbing and for applying sanitizing solutions to bathroom and kitchen floors. They work when pressed firmly to the floor and moved in long, overlapping strokes. When mopping, make sure to wipe up excess liquid because standing water can damage wood surfaces.

Change Bed Linens

We recommend changing and laundering sheets and pillowcases once a week. For even wear, rotate your sheets, storing fresh sheets at the bottom of the stack in your linen closet. For best results, wash your sheets in warm water and use non-chlorine bleach when needed. Wash all-cotton spreads, blankets, and coverlets in cold water to avoid shrinkage.

Freshen Bedrooms

Rotate and flip mattresses. Wash blankets or comforters or take them to be cleaned.
Wash mattress pad and bed skirt. Have pillows professionally cleaned or hang them outside in the fresh air, or freshen with the air (no heat) cycle of your clothes dryer. Wash or dry clean rugs.

Check Batteries & Stay Safe

Spring cleaning is the perfect opportunity to check the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Perform all required safety checks. If you don't own a fire extinguisher, purchase one. Learn how to use it and keep it in the kitchen.

I don't usually spring clean, but I remember as a girl we did !! I loved how we, my mom and sister, felt after we were done!! I loved that feeling of accomplishment and how clean our home was!!! Although our home was always clean, it felt different when we cleaned everything in one fell swoop !!! cleaning some things that didn't normally get cleaned. So I saw this information on BHG.com today and wanted to feel that same sense of accomplishment of long ago !!!

I'm exhausted just reading about everything we're supposed to do. Maybe I'll take a nap first!
