Our world upside down

After my surgery for cancer last month, my wound got infected. So I had to be hospitalized and was very ill for a while. They had to open my wound up so it can heal from the inside out. Hillary is my nurse and she packs my wound twice a day. I was very upset and pretty out of it for a while. But last week I got good news that my cancer is GONE!!! I don't have to have chemo or radiation !! The oncologist told me it was a good thing too because when you have to have radiation over an open wound it takes years to heal... so on that note I have decided I am truly blessed and I am trying not to whine about having an open wound which will takes months to heal as opposed to years !! I've been there done that in 1997!! If you are wondering about the picture it is Hill letting the air out of the blow-up mattress she slept on for the last month to be near me at night !! I am well enough now she can sleep in her room on her bed !!! She is so patient with me and the doctors talk to her like a colleague !! I am so blessed she is home to take care of me and the most special part is she does so willingly and with such gentleness and love, she is my greatest gift!!!! Thank you Father in Heaven for Hill and being cancer free, and for all of my family and friends who have visited me making the long days seem bare able !!

A few updates

This is Hillary making a Norwegian wedding cake with DeAnn.

And this is the finished cake, isn't it beautiful !!

I know how Dorothy felt!!!

I haven't been on a computer in a while, at least not where I felt like I could spend time blogging on it ... so today I am at my brother and sister -in- law's using theirs. I have some catching up to do so hold on to your hat, because you'll feel like you are in the house with Dorothy, Hill and I spinning somewhere over Kansas...

Well as you know I recently went to Arizona to pick up Hillary as her mission to Mesa came to an end. It was a short but wonderful trip.

We had lunch with all of the Spanish speaking sisters in Hillary's zone. And during our lunch a group of women stopped to say that even without the name tags they knew they were missionary sisters from across the room because of the glow !! And it is true you could see it !! lol We found out that they were eating lunch out to celebrate the sister who originally stopped to talk to us' birthday !! So I suggested the sisters sing happy birthday to her in Spanish, which they did!! The Sister whose name was Karen actually cried and said ti was the best birthday she had ever had !!

We visited many of her dear friends that day and then attended her last baptism. It was for an 8 year old girl who waited until Hill's mission was over so she could be there too. Hill spoke on the Holy Ghost and even though it was in Spanish I felt I understood what was being said !! It was one of the most special experiences of my life!!!!

That evening we spent some very fun time with our family (by adoption) in Buckeye AZ. Man it was good to see them all well and happy !! And of course ever ready to do us another favor by bringing Hermana Scott's bike home from AZ !! When we left there home it was late but we were determined to drive until we couldn't anymore... we drove a whole hour !! lol

Then Hill's BFF Christie Bessinger and her parents held a welcome home party for Hill in their back yard and our dearest friends and family all came !! It was wonderful !! Here are some of the pictures from that night!! We almost forgot to take pictures so some people may not be in the pictures, sorry if we missed you !!

And now for the rest of the story...

The first week Hillary was home my Dear Aunt Evelyn passed away suddenly. She had a bleeding stroke in her doctor's office. It happened on Wednesday and she passed away on Friday around noon. We were in a state of extreme shock, and then my mother became very ill and was admitted to the hospital, thru the ER, and it was determined she was on too much medicine and all her electrolytes were missing. She is home now trying to regain her strength. So Hill did not give her homecoming talk as scheduled due to the turmoil and being at the hospital all night and no sleep !!!
(BTW she will be speaking this Sunday in the YSA ward of our stake!!) My mom's youngest sister became ill on the ride home from CA after the funeral and ended up in the hospital the moment she got home!! She is fine now and glad to be out of the hospital too !!

And if your head is not spinning enough the third week was taken up with my health issues and surgery to determine what was happening to me... well, with the better pathology they found I have Uterine cancer... So we have had quite a ride in this house spinning over Kansas!! :) I have much to tell about my newest journey, but I believe it will take it's own blog, so if you're interested, be looking for my cancer blog that I'm going to keep to document my newest adventure !! :)

A picture for each week !!!

A picture for each week I have left !! Yes just 3 weeks left !! Yipppeeeeeeee

Also a bit of Hermana Scott's email from today !! I guess we'll be giving up Mexican food !!! hehehehe She is talking about the letter she wrote me today prior to emailing me... yes I get both every week !! Love my Hermana and she asks us to pray for them !!

In the letter you'll hear about how awful the food poisoning all 6 of us missionaries got on Saturday from our dinner. No worries because we're all fine now. But let me just say I am looking forward to a meatless, only fish and tofu filled life after the mission! haha I never want to see any form of dark meat again! I am DONE. lol And I am looking forward to small portions that I can choose myself! haha I will only miss a specific Salsa from Ranch Market and homemade tortillas. Maybe we will stop by Ranch Market on the way out of town :o) I do love me some Salsa :o) I can't wait to make flan for you! But after that we are going on South Beach and not getting off of it. My stomach can't handle anything else. Heck maybe I'll even become gluten-free like Christie the way I feel! haha

I also wrote you about how cute Irvin Coronel is. He is like the most spiritual 10 year old I have ever met! He's so adorable! He's totally going to be a general Authority someday. I have loved teaching his family. It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. We have another baptism on the 25th of a girl named Michelle. Pray for her! And also pray for sister Alvarez and I to find a prepared family to teach. I know they're out there waiting we just need to find them.

I love you Mom! Read your scriptures!

Love,
Hna. Scott

A Temple blessing !!

Last week on my way home from the temple on Bullard, I picked up something in my tire. I knew right away because I had my windows down and it made a flapping sound. I pulled over and was in shock when I saw the piece of metal that was wedged in my tire, it was about 7 inches long and 4 inches tall. I knew the tire was a goner... I was able to make it from Bullard and Blackstone to Clovis. I was babysitting for the Budges, that night. When I arrived the tire was still intact and had not lost any air??? Ryan changed my tire right away. The next morning I went to the tire store and he sold me a new tire and prorated the amount even though I had not purchased the road hazard insurance, but because my tire was so new (6 monthish) he gave it to me!! I did buy the road hazard insurance on Saturday. And so my bill came to $55.00 for a new tire for Kiwi, installation and road hazard insurance !! Wow I was in shock !! I know the Lord was watching over me because that tire held together though the razor sharp metal was all the way in my tire, it did not cut the radial cords, the tire remained intact!! I am still in shock, I will never buy any tire but a Firestone from now on !!! Thank you Father it could have been so bad !!
