The day the Rock almost won

These pictures posted out of order but it will have to do ... This is the view from the top of the rock climb...

This the climb up and she is still smiling... though she looks a little stressed even here !!

This was 3 am in the morning the beginning of the climb !! This is what happens when Elders are in charge of "P" day !! They planned a little hike !! Yeah right 4 miles straight up rock !! No trails just ROCK, are you nuts !! lol I can smile now because she is alright and the Lord did indeed watch over her, but the "Mommie" version even admits she almost died that day !! She froze at the top and at one point had a 6 foot drop and the Elder below caught her and so I wish to state NO MORE ROCK climbing !!

Is this what Easter Means to you?

When I was a young girl we did not attend church, except once a year. It was always on Easter that my mother and father would dress us all up, often in matching clothes. It meant getting together with family, food, and most importantly then, candy Easter eggs. And of course the great egg hunt !!

As I have contemplated this I wondered about why my parents, who did not live the gospel, would take us to church on this day. And I believe that even when they had stepped away from what they were taught as children, their very real testimony of the Savior's resurrection would not let them stay away on the day we celebrated His overcoming the grave !! He is Risen was written on the fleshy tables of their hearts, even if they had hardened their hearts to it the rest of the year!! I am glad, for those are some of my greatest childhood memories !! Some of the only happy memories I have. So I say thank you Mom and Dad for making Easter special to me !!

Hermana Scott

I got a letter from Hill yesterday, and she has another baptism set for April 2nd. She is so excited for this sister to be baptized. She says she has had a very hard life and needs the healing waters of baptism, as we all do. Her name is Carolina. In last weeks letter she said she cries with this sister every time they are together, and her first public prayer was thanking the Father for the sisters in her life !! Hermana Scott is also so very grateful for the opportunity to serve this mission, and to all of the people who have supported her in this service !! I too thank all of those who have contributed to her mission be it money, or mail and most importantly your prayers for her success and safety !!

I picked this picture because today it's 93 days to go, and it felt right because she is out there looking for those who are knocking at the door!!!

Something unexpected...

I hate walking... and a few years ago my knee hurt so bad and I was so low on iron that I was winded in just a few feet... I prayed for my health to be restored, and it was, so now I should walk with gratitude, right? I can walk and I'm not winded and my health could be even better if I used this gift and walked... but I hate it !!! But Hill wants me to walk, and I want to be able to do even more !! So walk I will !! So last week I started walking in the morning by myself with the "little girl", my ipod !! That's what Hill and I call her on roadtrips !!

And I came upon some unexpected beauty, and I thought of it as a gift to me, the tiniest little flower growing in a crack in the pavement... a struggle to live everyday but survive it does and is beautiful for that struggle !!!

But whose counting??

I'm sitting in my new office, Panera Bread, using the free WiFi, contemplating my new life... and I got really happy when I thought about it is only 116 days before Hill comes home!! However that is only 116 days I have to get everything done I need to do before she arrives!! Yikes I'd better stop sitting in my office so much !! :)

So I was thinkin'...

So as I was sittin' in my new room at the old homestead, and I thought this is the life !! The one I never had as a teenager !! I was on my own at 17 and had been working pretty much full time from 15 on. I first worked to buy my brother and I new school clothes and then to pay for dental work I needed. And then I was on to supporting myself, so I moved out. My rent back then was $10.00 a month !! It was a shack in Hanford but I painted it and fixed it up my way (including the black foyer with stars on the ceiling)!! So I must say I made a lot of bad decisions in those years but I also made a few good ones... and those are the ones that lead me here. What exactly I would call this time of my life I'm not sure? But I have been truly blessed to be able to move home and spend some time with my dear mother and to be able to take a break from always being the grown up... well ok not !! But I am enjoying my time with the Old Peeps !! hehe

Why I don't...

I haven't shopped at Wal-Mart for about 6 years (or some where around there) and this is why: They donate money to the national gay and lesbian chamber of commerce, an organization that is trying to defeat the marriage amendment. So all the standing on the corner and holding signs to support Prop. 8 would be nullified by me spending money that would then be donated to this organization. Because of this I have not shopped there. I truly believe when I stand before my Father to be judged of my deeds I will be held accountable for how I spent the money He blessed me with. Something I am already going to have to answer for, because I'm lousy with money!!!

So I try to save money by shopping elsewhere, Target mostly but I tried Kmart recently to see if they had deals any where closed to the ones other people say they are getting at Wal-Mart??? But these pictures show what I found there... So Target will be getting my money from now on !!! hehehe

My niece's response to the pictures was, "Unlike Wal-Mart, K-Mart rolls forward" !! Priceless !!!
